Of the various sprayable types of cat flea treatment, Frontline cat flea and tick medicine is the only product widely used by professional animal welfare experts. You will see it in the treatment room of your vet and at animal shelters because it is the only flea spray that has a consistent record of destroying all fleas and ticks quickly. Other products may work in the short-term and with small populations of fleas but only Frontline Spray provides reliable long-term flea and tick control in a spray form.
Using Fipronil to destroy up to 100% of adult flea within 24 hours (plus ticks and chewing lice within 48 hours), this spray is safe to use on kittens from eight weeks of age. You get exactly the same flea killing power as you do with Frontline Top Spot for Cats but in a spray formulation. This makes it a good choice for pet owners who do not favor the topical flea drop products.
Particularly useful in multi-pet households and for those with breeding animals, and the large volume of extra kittens that involves. Because it is sold as a spray you can use the product more widely, destroying fleas in bedding, upholstery and carpets.
How to Apply Frontline Flea Spray
The easiest method of application is for the pet owner to don some rubber or latex gloves and spray the product liberally on their covered hands. Then rub your cat's fur to distribute the flea protection all over their coat. Work the product in agains the lie of their coat to provide maximum protection.
Using this 'hands on' method prevents your pet becoming startled by the noise of using such a cat flea and tick medicine. This product comes in a non-aerosol pump action container so is not too noisy anyway but we all know how difficult cats can be with such things!
Long Lasting Protection
Just the same as with the topical flea drops this cat flea and tick medicine provides 30 days of flea and tick protection as a minimum. Many pet owners find it actually lasts longer, up to six weeks for the average cat.
Safe for Cats AND Dogs
Normally I keep rattling on about not using dog flea medicine on your cat. However, this is the one product you can use indiscriminately on both your canine and feline housemates.
Fipronil has a fantastic safety record because it targets insect nervous systems only. Causing insects to be over-stimulated to the point of destruction you may see a few active fleas immediately after application. This is just them coming to the surface of your pet's coat due to the over-stimulated nervous system. They will not bite and they will die very shortly afterwards. Within hours most fleas will have already died.
The Natural Resources Defence Council recommend it as being a safe method of cat flea treatment (see here for full details).
With Frontline Spray Cat Flea Treatment being the only flea spray widely used by professionals within animal health it really needs no further recomendation. This really is the only spray able cat flea and tick medicine which can offer complete and ongoing cat flea and tick protection.
