Frontline Spot On flea treatments are fast becoming the most popular form of flea control sold today. The reasons are three-fold. Firstly Frontline flea drops are highly effective at eliminating both fleas and ticks. Secondly this flea medicine is long lasting, and thirdly Frontline Spot On products have an extremely good safety record.
Frontline Spot On Treatments Kill Pests Quickly
Both Frontline Top Spot and Frontline Plus kill fleas quickly. Once you apply either product adult fleas will begin to be destroyed. 18 hours after using Frontline spot on treatments all the adult fleas on your dog or cat should be destroyed.
Within 48 hours all ticks and biting lice will also have been destroyed. During the month following application, new fleas and ticks which meet your pet will be killed within hours.
Whilst Frontline Top Spot just deals with adult fleas, Frontline Plus also tackles flea eggs and flea larvae. This means the flea population in your home is quickly destroyed at all stages of its life-cycle.
Long Lasting Frontline Spot On
The total control of all fleas, ticks and biting lice lasts at least one month. Depending on the overall level of the insect population in your area you may find the treatment lasts much longer. The control of fleas by Frontline Spot On medicines can last up to six weeks for cats and eight weeks for dogs.
So by delaying your application of Frontline for your pet you can save a little money each month. The product works so quickly once applied, that unless your pet suffers from a serious allegy you know you can deal with the fleas as soon as they reappear.
Frontline Spot On Products are Safe
The active ingredient in both Top Spot and Frontline Plus is fipronil. This is one of a new breed of insect killers. It stimulates the nervous system of the insects and other invertibrates, causing over-stimulation and subsequent death. This is an active ingredient which is ignored by the nervous system of larger animals, so can do no harm to our pets.
The additional active ingredient in Frontline Plus is methoprene which again only targets insect life-forms. This is an insect development inhibitor. It disrupts the growth of juvenile flea larvae and eggs so they are unable to progress to adulthood. Again this has no ability to harm larger animals.
There are occasional pets who show signs of mild irritation with the use of spot on flea treatments. This is due to a simple allergy to the carrier liquid rather than any serious poisoning from the insect killing part of the product. You should always keep an eye on your pet after applying any spot on topical flea treatment and stop future treatments if your pet does show signs of allergy.
